Most people I meet tell me the same thing when I say I’m a bookkeeper: “I could never do that.” And I get it — numbers, spreadsheets, reconciliations. It sounds like the opposite of fun.

But here’s the thing. For me, there’s something deeply satisfying about a set of books that’s completely clean, reconciled to the penny, and tells the true story of a business’s financial health. It’s like a puzzle where every piece has a place — and when it’s done right, it gives business owners something they almost never have: clarity.

That’s why I started HippieG Bookkeeping.

Why HippieG?

I worked with enough small business owners to know that the vast majority of them are running their businesses without a real, accurate picture of their finances. They’re doing their own books in their spare time — usually late at night, usually stressed, usually not confident the numbers are right.

Small business owners work too hard, take too much risk, and invest too much of themselves to be flying blind financially. They deserve accurate books, delivered on time, explained in plain English by someone who actually knows their business. That’s the gap HippieG fills.

How I Work

I’m not a bookkeeping factory. When you hire HippieG, you work with me — Donald — directly. I’m the one who reconciles your accounts, reviews your transactions, prepares your reports, and answers your questions.

That means I actually get to know your business. After a few months together, I know your seasonal patterns, your biggest expense categories, your most important revenue streams. I notice when something looks off. I flag it before it becomes a problem. That’s what a real bookkeeper does.
